Tom's Favorite Tool

Tom's Favorite Tool

Rarely a day goes by where Tom is not reaching for his "vibrating cutter". Called a "Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool" by DeWalt, we refer to it as just a "multi-tool". It can be annoyingly loud, as annoying as a dentist's drill. But it is really useful. A multi-tool excels at:

  • under-cutting door jambs and casing to make way for new flooring
  • plunge-cutting virtually anything (I used mine earlier to cut a nice exploratory hole in a plaster wall)

This tool is a real problem solver. What did we do before we bought one? Used a hammer and chisel. Used a hand saw. Tried to use a sawzall - they saw anything, right? It's in the name! But once we got a multi-tool we realized how ineffective those alternatives were.

So while we might relentlessly tease Tom that it's not a good day unless he gets to use his multi-tool, the joke's on us since he is smartly selecting the best tool for the job.
